Frequently Asked Questions
What Makes PathologyWatch different from other pathology labs?
We transform dermatology clinics and hospitals with intuitive and easy-to-implement digital pathology solutions that include access to top-tier dermatopathologists and a streamlined clinical workflow that interfaces directly into the EMR. Our in-house laboratory services are designed to improve operational efficiency by speeding up workflow and enhancing patient outcomes.
How will PathologyWatch help me save time?
On average, our partners report a 30 percent more efficient workflow and up to 75 percent faster turnaround time. Instead of spending time tracking down and filing paperwork, we deliver quality reporting straight to your EMR. This electronic process reduces wait time and human errors while providing access to your digital slides and dermatopathologists who care about each case.
Does PathologyWatch integrate with my EMR?
Yes indeed. PathologyWatch uses Health Level 7 (HL7) programming to transfer digital medical records between systems and providers—meaning whatever your EMR, medical records will transfer into your system. PathologyWatch is prepared to shoulder the burden of setting up the digital interface in your clinic.
Who actually reads the slides at PathologyWatch?
We employ experienced, top-tier dermatopathologists with extensive subspecialty experience and proven abilities to read the slides we receive. We value open communication and make sure our dermatopathologists are accessible to discuss special cases.
What’s the turnaround time for samples?
We know how important it is for patients to get their results back in a timely manner and strive for a turnaround time of 48 hours for routine cases. Providing quick results helps build patient-doctor trust and helps your practice thrive.
How does PathologyWatch ensure the safe transport of samples?
We use locally and nationally accredited transporters, following strict chains of command to ensure no samples are lost and that accurate reports are issued quickly. Our couriers are experienced in maintaining optimal environments for the transport of biological materials.
What will my PathologyWatch dermatopathology report contain?
In addition to 24/7 access to whole-slide images, you will also receive a pathology report that contains a final diagnosis, microscopic description, and gross description, as well as any information originally provided by the clinic or provider. Our reports include everything providers need to come up with a viable treatment plan for their patients.
I don’t use an EMR. Can I still use PathologyWatch?
Absolutely. Whether or not your office uses an EMR, PathologyWatch can provide you with state-of-the-art whole-slide images and a comprehensive report via a variety of delivery methods. We can send automatic faxes to your office and give you cloud access to high-resolution digital slides and diagnostic reports.
How does PathologyWatch handle billing?
PathologyWatch has a broad network of insurance coverage and doesn’t send surprise bills. It’s a smart way to maintain your patients’ confidence and loyalty.
